Dr Vinod Achan MA (Oxon), BMBCh (Oxon), PhD, FRCP

Vinod Achan has been an NHS consultant interventional cardiologist at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, since 2007. He ranked first in his year at Oxford University where he qualified in 1993 with a Hobson Memorial Clinical Scholarship. He was also a UK Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University in California (1999 to 2002) where he set up an international research collaboration on cardiovascular injury.

He has a specialist interest in coronary angioplasty and the treatment of chest pain and heart attacks. He played a key role in developing local invasive cardiology services, was one of two operators performing the first coronary angioplasty at Frimley Park Hospital in 2007, and is the clinical lead for emergency or primary angioplasty. Frimley Park Hospital is now a regional heart attack centre. He also implanted the first pacemaker at Frimley Park Hospital in 2007. He sees patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, blackouts and other symptoms of heart disease.

Frimley Park Hospital was voted the Best Trust in the South of England 2013 by Dr Foster.
